Session 4

Personal outcomes;
  1. keeping the session fun and skillful
  2. being able to attack the ball and being aware of the space
  3. again being able to use footwork and passing from previous session
In this session it is aimed at increasing the knowledge of the game and making the players aware of space on the court and being able to notice whats around them making them able to see all around them vision that is aware all the time and not just looking ahead. Vision is very important in the netball game all players must have the ability to see down the court and what is around them for passing and defending. the awareness of space around them also comes in useful so they do not bump into each other or run in the same direction and section as everyone else. It is said that coaches should look for speed, agility, accuracy and footwork when practicing and performing awareness drills. (Dawson, S, 2006) It is also mention by Dawson that while performing awareness drills they must always keep their minds active at all times. The spatial awareness is mainly focused upon the centre court players, so within the session i can see which players may find it easier to find space. This will equal to a help to find which players would be best at that particular netball position.

The session included a skill to learn where the children had to learn and perform a drill that included attacking the ball. this is so when the players have the ball they can be aware to run forwards and look to pass forward even being able to push players to move more forward , this is called attacking the ball. All the players are to participate in this drill as it is devised for all court players in a netball game to use ranging from the Goal Keeper to the Goal Shooter. this is so the attacking team can bring the ball down to their goal. (Shakespear, W) The ball must be handled in each third of the court as it travels from end to end. The player that decides to throw the ball over a third will be pulled up and the ball will be given to the opposition.
The whole concept of attacking the ball is also to try and get the players to move away or in front of the defenders to receive the ball. So looking at the next session i will focus on getting the players to learn how to dodge and get in front of the re opponents.

A good description of the session, but lacking a little in reflection compared to some of your earlier work.
